A life in the Day of Crown Worlds Spanish Office

Upon arriving at Crown Worlds Spanish office the first thing that becomes apparent is the fabulous location.

Nestled in the heart of the exclusive La Alzambra Urbanisation, on the outskirts of Puerto Banus, it is a million miles away from the grey, concrete office blocks found all over the UK.

With sun streaming down, I enter the office to be met by a hive of activity. It is still only 9 o’clock in the morning (UK time) and already the phones are ablaze with people eager to learn more about the projects on offer.

‘This is not unusual’, I am told by a member of the sales team who had seen the surprise on my face, ‘People can now connect to us using Skype, Facetime, VOIP, e-mail and of course the traditional telephone. A few years ago it would have been unthinkable to have an office outside of the UK but now it makes perfect sense.’

One thing that is made very clear as I watch the team at work is that, in today’s society of social networking, property developers like Crown World need to explore every avenue. Gone are the days when all you needed was a good website which is why Crown World provides regular updates via newsletters, Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. It is obvious to see why, with the prevalence of smart phones, the world has become a much more connected place.

Before I know what has happened it is already two o’clock and my tummy is starting to rumble. I am taken next door to a newly opened restaurant by one of the company directors. The conversation naturally drifts towards the topic of the Cayman Islands. ‘It is such a beautiful place’ I am told, ‘although it is a British overseas territory, for years it was largely anonymous amongst the British public’. Having looked over the literature and viewed the many photographs that constantly change on the wide screen television set up in the office it is hard to see why this is the case. ‘It is the 5th largest financial centre in the world’ he went on, ‘which means it has the highest standard of living and the finest infrastructure of any island in the Caribbean’. Judging by the amount of activity in the office this morning it appears as though the British public are waking up to the possibilities offered by the Cayman Islands.

‘We don’t just sell to the UK though’ he followed on, ‘we do a great deal of business in the Middle East and Asia due to the many trade shows we are involved with in those areas.’

All too soon, a very tasty lunch is tucked away and we head next door to see what is happening now. The boardroom is hosting an impromptu sales meeting, with team members taking it in turns to brief the sales manager of potential deals so I take the chance to sit down in front of one of the computers to speak with one of the team in the UK via skype.

He tells me that he has seen Crown World really grow and develop since its creation in 2007. ‘When I started with the company, we were still in the very early stages of land development, but now it is really rewarding to see our hard work bear fruit and see the infrastructure finished on time.’

This has allowed Crown World to increase its portfolio to the point where they are now able to offer a plot to suit all tastes and budgets, especially with its 5 year interest free payment plan.

The afternoon follows a similar trend to the morning’s activities, interspersed by visits from local agents who have come to meet with the team.

As my day in the office comes to a close I am struck by how much I enjoyed being around a busy office again. Although the team worked very hard it all felt so effortless as though, somehow, the relaxed and friendly nature of the Cayman Islands had worked its way over the Caribbean Sea and found a home in the offices of Crown World on the Costa del Sol.
