Cayman Islands Are A Favourite With Holiday Makers

Sometimes one visit to the Cayman Islands is all that is required to ensure that people keep coming back year after year. This has been highlighted in a recent news story about two great friends of the Cayman Islands, Terry and Sandy Guhr who are coming back for their 16th visit.

Sandy Guhr said that she and her husband were looking forward to visiting their favourite place yet again.

“We are coming to celebrate my birthday and believe me, there is no place on Earth that I would rather be than in Grand Cayman,” she said. “My husband should know better by now than to ask me what I would like for my birthday.

“Friends and family who have been to Cayman, well, they understand totally all that makes us fall in love with the island, over and over,” she added. “The beauty of the island, the cleanliness and island people is what brings us back. As for our friends and family who have not experienced Cayman, well, they’ll just have to wait and see for themselves. I always tell them that it is like living in a postcard.”

The couple’s first trip to Cayman for their honeymoon in 2000 sparked a deep love for the islands.

“I have always enjoyed the fact the I, alone, can walk to the grocery store or to the beautiful Camana Bay Mall and feel 100 per cent safe and comfortable,” she said. “Camana Bay is the only shopping mall that my husband will gladly go to with me.

“He loves the atmosphere and the music on the paseo – he relaxes on the waterfront as I go shopping,” said Mrs. Guhr.

It’s a timely visit for the Chicago couple, too, with that northern United States city well known for its frigid winters that often drop below zero.

“Today, with the wind chill it is 12 degrees, so we just turn our thoughts of the beautiful beaches in Cayman, warm sun and crystal blue waters with a pina colada in hand,” Mrs. Guhr told the Compass.

Visit No. 16 is from 8 to 19 April, she explained, but the Guhrs already have No. 17 planned.

“We will be returning in September for three weeks and intend to do what we always do and that is to relax, enjoy the pristine waters and absorb as much Cayman sun as possible, to get us through the next winter,” said Mrs. Guhr.
