Cayman Islands have the highest standard of living in the Caribbean

The Cayman Islands and the British Isles: two ends of the standard of living spectrum

How happy are you on a scale of 1 to 10? Perhaps happiness can’t be quantified quite that easily, but there is a standard of living (or quality of life) spectrum, according to experts. And at two opposite ends of this standard of living spectrum are the Cayman Islands and the British Isles, reveals experts in land investments in the Cayman Islands Crown World (http://www.crownworld.com/).

Recent research has found that the United Kingdom and Ireland are the worst places to live in Europe when it comes to quality of life. Meanwhile, the Cayman Islands enjoy the highest standard of living in the Caribbean. Given that for most people the Caribbean is the place that comes to mind when one thinks of ‘paradise’, you could say that puts life in the UK and life in the Cayman Islands at two opposite ends of the happiness spectrum.

So what is it that makes for a good quality of life? According to the Quality of Life Index from researchers uSwitch.com, there are 16 factors which should be taken into account. Interestingly these factors are a combination of concrete facts and figures, such as the cost of purchasing essential goods (food, fuel, energy bills, etc.), net income and levels of VAT, along with lifestyle elements such as working hours, holiday entitlement, hours of sunshine and life expectancy. The UK has one of the highest average age of retirement, one of the lowest holiday entitlements, a low average household income and some of the highest prices for food and fuel in Europe. The UK’s spend on health and education is below the European average and France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Italy all enjoy a longer life expectancy than the UK.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Cayman Islands enjoy low inflation, a robust economy (it’s GDP per capita is the 8th highest in the world), low unemployment and one of the highest levels of per capita income in the world. Add to this the fact that it is the safest of all the Caribbean islands and boasts some of the most breathtaking natural beauty in the world and you have the highest standard of living in the Caribbean and arguably one of the highest in the world.

No wonder so many people are looking to buy land in the Cayman Islands: it’s not just an investment in a tax-free British Overseas Territory with direct access to international markets, it’s also an investment in happiness itself! Find out more at http://www.crownworld.com/.
