Cayman Islands Tourism Tops TripAdvisor

Cayman’s tourism community is coming up trumps once more with visitors voting hotels, resorts and tours among the best in the world.

The top 10 per cent of globally listed businesses on TripAdvisor are eligible for a Certificate of Excellence, which is only awarded to those places that receive scores of 4 or more out of 5 as voted by visitors.

The Alexander Hotel in Cayman Brac, Grandview Condos of Grand Cayman, Comfort Suites, Grand Cayman and tour operators Marineland have all gained the 2013 accolade.

For the hotels, this constitutes recognition among the 700,000 listed on TripAdvisor, above more than 630,000 hotels, ranging from 30 to 6,000-plus rooms, corporate, private and otherwise.

“I am so very proud of the staff, this is a product of their hard work,” said the Alexander Hotel’s General Manager Timothy Dilbert, who added that he was proud to be part of such a team.

“It is such a fantastic accomplishment ... to win it two years in a row. Cayman Brac has an excellent tourism product; those who have come here are fortunate.
“Visitors go home relaxed with stories to share about their experience on a quiet, yet adventurous little Caribbean island. Those who haven’t yet been to Cayman Brac are missing out,” he added.

He noted that it was a great reflection on the hotel, which was built on the provision of superior service.

A great achievement

Gary Rutter of Comfort Suites said that it was a great achievement for a smaller locally owned and staffed hotel.

“The staff have done an incredible job and we are all very proud of not only the service that they have delivered, but also with the product that we have created for our guests after our recent $2.5 million renovation,” he said.

Curtis Eldemire of Marineland Tours said the company was thrilled to have received the certificate, particularly as the tours had only been running for a relatively short time, including an amphibious bus called the Hydra Terra, the Cayman Explorer, sandbar tours and charters.

“It is all thanks to our guests who have shared their experiences while going on our unique water sports orientated tours,” he said. “This positive feedback inspires us to continue trying our very best to make today’s and future guests get the same satisfied feeling and continue to exceed the highest levels in service and customer satisfaction for our passengers.”

He added that his family had been involved in the tourism industry for more than 50 years.

“We were searching for unique one-of-a-kind tours to provide a first class service to our visitors and locals alike and are very proud of the tour products and service we provide,” Mr. Eldemire said.
