Jamaica
Jamaica, part of the Greater Antilles, is the third largest island and the fourth largest country in the Caribbean. The Arawak and Taino were the indigenous people of Jamaica when, in 1494, Christopher Columbus arrived and claimed the island for Spain. In 1655, the British took control, turning Jamaica into a British colony. Jamaica achieved independence in 1962 but remains a British Commonwealth realm.
Port Antonio
Port Antonio is located on the beautiful north eastern coast of Jamaica, about 60 miles from the capital of Kingston. It is the island’s third largest port and is most famous for being the major departure point for bananas and coconuts being shipped around the world.
Renowned as one of the major international destinations for the rich and famous, the area is a centre for tourism and regularly receives royal visitors from around the world, as well as Hollywood A-listers. They are all attracted to the natural beauty, opulent hotels and secluded villas that make Port Antonio the last word in luxury.
